Drones — how hard are they to fly?

Spoiler: we make them easy.

It’s undeniable. Drones are here and here to stay. With each passing week, more and more companies rely on drone technology to complete certain operations in safer, more efficient manners. However, those that lack familiarity with drones remain hesitant to adopt this technology, wondering how steep the learning curve may be. I’m here to alleviate those worries by explaining just how easy it for inexperienced individuals to operate our drones.

Other Drone Companies

When most people think of drones, they picture small drones, like the one below, that can fit in the palm of your hand. This is the type of drone you may buy as a gift for a kid. Some can go really fast. Some can take high quality pictures and videos.

A small consumer drone.

Most drone companies operate on a transactional basis. The company will sell its drones at a fixed price point to the customer, without much guidance or support after the sale occurs. This leaves the customer with many unanswered questions:

  1. How do I fly the drone?
  2. What are the necessary safety protocols?
  3. What regulations do I need to be aware of?
  4. Something isn’t working right. How do I fix it?

The list can go on-and-on. What makes drones difficult is the lack of training and support other drone companies offer. The majority of drones are built internationally, which makes it nearly impossible for these companies to properly train and provide high-quality, on-going support for customers in the United States. We receive regular calls to our office and hear of United States companies that bought an international drone, experienced an issue, and are unable to get ahold of the drone manufacturer for support. If they are able to contact the drone company’s support team, it usually takes months to resolve relatively minor issues (trust me, I used to fly internationally built drones and wasted months of my life waiting for their support team to respond to trivial issues).

Lucid Drone Tech Puts Customers First

We are in the business of building user-friendly drones that perform productive tasks. Unlike most drones that are built for racing or taking pictures/videos, our company engineers purpose-built drones that are designed to perform productive tasks, like disinfecting a large stadium, or cleaning the exterior windows of a building.

Our flight controls are easy

We build, program, and test all of our drones locally in Charlotte, North Carolina. We spent years working with cleaning companies, chemical manufacturers, and other industry leaders to engineer a customized solution for our customers that is safe, smart, and simple. Beyond that, we place an emphasis on programming a variety of safety features for our drones, like obstacle avoidance, to give our customers increased peace-of-mind while flying.

We provide hands-on training

As opposed to selling our drones and merely wishing good-luck to our customers, we provide hands-on training to each and every customer. We teach our customers the necessary safety protocols, flight operations, regulations, and so much more. To put it simply, our company takes the guesswork out of drone technology. We give you everything you need — drone, batteries, charger, controller, transportation equipment, etc. — and all of the necessary knowledge to operate responsibly and effectively.

We provide on-going support

After training, it isn’t good-bye! Our support team will continue to be readily available to help our customers when they need us. Because we build our drones domestically and spend time in-person training each customer, we are uniquely positioned to provide an unparalleled level of support. Most drone companies are tough to get ahold of, but if you ever need anything from us, give us a call at (980) 498–1894.

Making Drones Simple

Over the years, we have come to appreciate the evolution of understanding that our customers experience when deciding to use our technology. Upon a first conversation, we often hear “Wow! This is such a cool concept. It feels like this technology is from the future…does it actually work?” The answer is yes — this isn’t a concept; it’s reality! When we show them a video or demo of the product-in-action, there’s often a light bulb moment: “Oh, so that’s how it works! But how hard is it to fly?!” With our hands-on training and purpose-built drones, we make learning to fly our drones simple.

“Their software engineers made it so simple to fly. I grew up playing with video games, so my hand-eye coordination was pretty good. It’s like second nature to me almost.” — Blake Reynolds, Texas A&M Drone Pilot

Beyond the ease-of-use, the individuals we train are often excited by the opportunity to ditch their old-school methods and tools and pick up utilize a drone instead:

No Prior Drone Experience Required

We have programmed our drones to make them easy to fly for all skill ranges, including those that have never flown a drone before. In fact, many of our customers have never flown a drone before working with us! One of our early customers was a former professional golf player. He had no prior drone experience before adopting our technology and is now an expert drone pilot:

“The drone’s reliability is impeccable, the ease of use, regardless of your skill level and flight time experience, is tantamount to driving a car.” — Andy Godfrey, CEO of Upward Drone Solutions

Regardless of skill level, Lucid Drone Tech is here to help your company adopt drone technology. Building user-friendly drones is our business model. With our domestically engineered solutions, hands-on training, and on-going support, we take the guesswork out of learning to use drones. After all, this isn’t rocket science. It’s drone science, and we make it easy!
